My thoughts

I enjoy reading Harriet Evans books and was thrilled to be pre-approved to read this one via the Publishers and NetGalley.

This is the first of a four part series to be released during the summer months and beyond.

We the reader are thrown into the lives of the elderly couple, David and Martha Winter, and their family. As invites are sent around for a special family gathering, some invites are met with excitement and some with a certain amount of trepidation.

With lots of family characters to get our heads around, we are introduced to several of them chapter by chapter. It soon becomes apparent that like a lot of families there are lots of secrets and past history hidden. Some secrets are better left hidden but as this part ends we are left with a cliffhanger knowing that Martha is about to reveal certain things that will shake the family in more ways than one.

I look forward to reading the next part of this well written story. I wonder what impact the revelations will have on the family and how they will all cope with the aftermath. I can't wait to see how they all cope.

This is suitable for any reader who enjoys a well written family saga.
