Comeback by Chris Limb

From Goodreads

Genie has everything – a BRIT award, a singing career, the attention of the press and Oliver Fox, a pretty boy who looks good on her arm.

Until he dies.

His death brings Genie’s long buried feelings bubbling to the surface. Her grief over the death of her lover Wendi who introduced her to this world. Her self doubt and fear that she will be exposed as a fraud.

How far is she prepared to go to fix things?

The afterlife isn’t the most comfortable of places for anyone who’s still alive, but Genie’s not going to take any crap from the dead – she’s got years of experience in the music business.

Sometimes going to Hell and back takes a lifetime...

My thoughts

My thanks to the Author and Publishers via Emma of Damppebbles Blog Tours for the opportunity to read this in exchange for taking part in the Blog tour of this book.

I gave this a 4 stars or 8/10.

I have asked myself the following question ~ Where to begin with reviewing this?  I don't know where to start at all is my answer.  It was a roller coaster of a ride of emotions for sure in more ways than one.  At times I wasn't sure what was happening in real time so to speak and what was happening in the head and imagination.

Please, can I just say that if you're easily offended by swearing and references to drug taking then this might not be the book for you at all, as both feature in the story.

Genie has a career ahead of her in the music industry, she is an award winning singer, but she has doubts about what she has done, what she has achieved and to some extent who she is.  As a close friend Oliver Fox passes away, she finds it hard to come to terms with the feelings that she has surrounding this.  She misses him and tries to find ways to still see him even though he has left this life and is no longer alive.

Grief isn't easy to deal with for most of us and it's something that we all learn that we have to deal with in our own way, there's no right or wrong way to deal with it.  As any of you that have been through it will know for yourself.  The loss of someone close to us is hard and they never leave our memories, I speak from experience here as I often think of those that have passed away.

There's so much I could say about this story, but I would rather not, as my take on it might not be the way you read it.  I feel that by saying more would spoil it for others and I most certainly don't want to do that.  I found it a well written and in many ways thought provoking take on things.

I feel that this would make a great reading group read due to some of the themes that I feel are running through it.
