From Goodreads
Jill Corban meets Dr Michael Scott while on holiday with family in Alice Springs. Although the attraction is mutual, Michael has made a promise to his grandmother and a future with Jill, who is genetically altered, isn’t on the cards.
Their love seems doomed as they deal with a kidnapping and a research field trip where Defence Department agents are on the trail of a woman the Aborigines are calling ‘little lizard’. Will James Corban’s skill to stop time, and little Stella’s ability to ‘jump’, untangle this lover’s knot?
Discover the beauty of the Red Desert and how the power of love can change a life, for Love’s Red Heart beats within us all.
My thoughts
I gave this a 4 stars or 8/10. My thanks to the Author via TBConFB for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third story in the Future Movers series by Deryn Pittar. This short story could easily be read as a standalone read, but features some returning characters from previous stories. It makes sense to read them in order to get the benefit of the developing series.
If only we had powers that allowed us to do things or see things that others can't. This is what the altered characters in this story have the ability to do. I really enjoyed how the initial attraction between Jill Corban and Dr Michael Scott, developed into a will they or won't they type of relationship.
This might only be a short story, but the story had great character development of both the new and returning characters and an interesting storyline that made me want to keep on reading to see what happens to them all. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next one in the Future Movers series.
