Guilty Pleasure (Bound Hearts#11) by Lora Leigh

Guilty Pleasure

From Goodreads

A man too dangerous to know, a woman too beautiful to resist . . . When FBI agent Marty Matthews is assigned to shadow Khalid, a dangerous, forbidden man who has haunted her dreams for years, she struggles against her desires for him. That is, until Khalid is cleared and Marty freed from her assignment. Now all bets are off . . . The beautiful, fierce Marty Matthews is the one woman Khalid hungers for like no other and is the one woman he dare not let himself have. His past dogs his every step and danger lurks around every corner. To save her he must keep away. But the power of their desire is something they cannot deny - and once Marty is his, Khalid will do whatever it takes to keep her in his arms forever.

My thoughts

2.5 stars. Thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for the opportunity of reading this story in exchange for an honest review.

I've read some good and some not so good erotic stories and this falls into the latter unfortunately. Whilst I quite enjoyed the premise of it, the writing style let it down and I'm hoping that during editing someone has changed the spelling of pan ties to panties, this realy irked me.

The premise wasn't entirely bad but in some ways certain things weren't very believable but I don't hold that against the story at all as I don't have to believe in a story to enjoy it.

Marty Matthews works for the FBI and moves in exclusive circles, where people are protected by one another. Where FBI and CIA agents rub noses with the rich and powerful. Khalid Mustafa is a forbidden dangerous man, well known to Marty and her two Dads (real Dad and godfather. Marty and Khalid have both been attracted to one another over the years and it's this attraction that builds up as the story enfolds. Enter Shayne Connor a friend and acquaintance of Khalid's, who becomes very instrumental in the relationship between Marty and Khalid. I quite enjoyed the interaction between the three main characters.

With lots of twists and turns this story is not just an erotic one but also a roller coaster of a ride in more ways than one. As past secrets are revealed the pst comes back to haunt Khalid and in turn Marty and Shayne.

Lora Leigh is a prolific writer and this story is part of a series but can be read as a standalone and I won't be seeking out any further of her writing.
