The Associate (A Shanna Regan Mystery #2) by Victoria Goldman an extract post

From Goodreads

When an architect vanishes in East London, her concerned fiancĂ© asks journalist Shanna Regan to find her. The missing woman has been leading an interfaith Jewish-Muslim charity project that’s become the target of malicious damage and racist threats.

After Shanna witnesses a teenage girl fall to her death, she’s convinced the architect’s disappearance is also linked to a local youth outreach project. And then another woman is reported missing.

Amid rising local tensions, danger appears to be lurking around every corner. Even the safest sanctuaries seem to be hiding the darkest secrets. As Shanna uncovers a tangled web of lies, she puts her own life on the line. Will she find the missing architect before it’s too late?

The Associate is the compelling and thought-provoking sequel to The Redeemer.

My thoughts

Below is an extract from the book.  Sadly, life got in the way and I haven't had the spare time that was needed to read the story.  I am looking forward to being able to set my eyes on the story again as I really enjoyed The Redeemer, book 1 in the Shanna Regan Mystery.  Thanks to Victoria Goldman for a review copy of the story.

‘He’s right though. The violence is out of control and escalating and the government should be doing more. There’s only so much Power House can do on its own.’

I wince at my words. Taking sides in local politics, or politics at all, isn’t something I make a habit of, but I won’t ignore the fact that guns and knives shouldn’t be on London’s streets.

‘Yes … we should be doing more, you’re right.’ William opens his top desk drawer and grabs a small pad of paper. ‘Young people carry knives to protect themselves, and the more they carry knives, the more their peers do too. It’s a vicious circle that needs to be broken.’

‘But how? The police aren’t managing it. So what’s the answer?’

That is what we readers want to know, what is the answer?  Will we find out as we read more of the story?

Just to whet your whistle and tempt you in to making a purchase of the book to find out the answer.
