The Herd by Emily Edwards

From Goodreads

You should never judge how someone chooses to raise their child.

Elizabeth and Bryony are polar opposites but their unexpected friendship has always worked. They're the best of friends, and godmothers to each other's daughters - because they trust that the safety of their children is both of their top priority.

But what if their choice could harm your own child?

Little do they know that they differ radically over one very important issue. And when Bryony, afraid of being judged, tells what is supposed to be a harmless white lie before a child's birthday party, the consequences are more catastrophic than either of them could ever have imagined . . .

My thoughts

My thanks to the Publishers via NetGalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great thought provoking read, it will make a great reading group read as I am sure that it will create differing opinions among the readers.  It's going to be among my Top 10 reads of this year.

Relating the story of two friends and neighbours Elizabeth and Bryony, who both have young children and face the dilemma of whether to have them vaccinated or not.  The story features both sides of the dilemma as they both appear to sit on different sides for various reasons.

As parents you all hope to make the right choices for your children and it's down to you to make an informed decision one way or another regarding vaccinations.  Herd immunity is created by the majority of people being vaccinated with vaccines to prevent them catching diseases, etc.  The story is very timely as we are in the midst of the COVID issue and vaccines have been developed in order to create herd immunity.
