Love in Lockdown by Chloe James

From Goodreads

Sophia is afraid lockdown will put her life on pause – just as she was she was going to put herself out there and meet someone. When the first clap for the keyworkers rings out around her courtyard, she’s moved to tears for all kinds of reasons.

Jack is used to living life to the fullest, and is going stir-crazy after just days isolating. Until that night he hears a woman crying from the balcony beneath his. He strikes up a conversation with the stranger and puts a smile back on her face.

Soon their balcony meetings are the highlight of Jack and Sophia’s days. But even as they grow closer together, they’re always kept apart.

My thoughts

My thanks to the Publishers via NetGalley for the opportunity to read this story in exchange for an honest review.  I gave this a 4 stars or 8/10.

This is one of many books that will have been written surrounding our current situation and how we are living during the lockdowns due to Covid in 2020 and 2021.  This will probably end up becoming a genre all of it's own.

Telling the story of the developing romance between Sophia and Jack, two neighbours who have never met and due to the lockdown situation have no chance of meeting for some time.  They both have their own reasons for living life the way they are doing due to the restrictions enforced on us all.

A chance meeting one night on their balconies leads to more and they both begin to look forward to their occasional meetings, often sharing things by their own unique way without actually coming into contact with one another.  As with most developing relationships their relationship is no different than anyone else's, in so much as they manage to have their up and downs along the way.  The path of true love doesn't often run smooth and it must be even harder when the couple have never even met!

I enjoyed this story and found it quite a believable take on romance during lockdown.  This was a well written story and I will look forward to reading more by this author in due course.
