it's not never by Louise Gregory & N.G.K.

From Goodreads

Ambitious and hardworking, astronaut Jessica Gabriel refuses to let love get in the way of becoming the first
person to walk on another planet. Or maybe she is just afraid of losing her best friend?

Fellow astronaut, John Eden, is determined to prove he is more than his family name. Yet his insecurities
might cost him his place on the mission.

Neither of them are looking for love, and mission protocol forbids it. But love doesn’t follow the rules, and the two friends have to decide whether they want to risk everything they’ve worked for to be together.

My thoughts

My thanks to Louise Gregory for sending a signed copy of this, as I wasn't able to convert the file that I was sent.  I received a copy in order to be able to review it and take part in the blog tour of the book.

I gave this a 5 stars or 10/10.  It was a well written story that I enjoyed the journey of being on with the characters.

This was an unusual read in some ways, yet in other ways it was an out of this world multi layered romance.  It took me a while to settle into the story as it moves around quite a lot in varying aspects of the timeframe and jumps from the perspective of different characters in each chapter.  This took my already muddled mind out of my world and into the world of the characters, which I thoroughly enjoyed being in once I was there and aware of the surroundings that they were living in.

This was also in my opinion a claustrophobic read that had me feeling as if I was living with the crew of the Harmonia as they travelled to Mars and back, experiencing the day to day life that they had while aboard the spaceship.  I can only imagine how the crew felt as they spent all their time on the spaceship with only the 5 members to talk to and cohabit with during the mission, apart from when they were communicating with others outside of the spaceship.  There was nowhere to escape to when the going was a bit rough and things weren't as they wanted them to be.

I felt invested in the developing relationship between 2 of the crew members Jessica and John who knew one another before the mission they embarked on.  Relationships between crew members was going against the rules of the mission in more ways than one.  Living on a spaceship 24/7 with other people and having nowhere to go at all should things not work out isn't an ideal situation to be in at all.

To find out whether these 2 crew members do get it together despite all that is thrown at them on their journey out of this world and back or are they destined to be single forever? You will have to grab a copy of this book for yourself and take a journey to another planet and back with them.
