Six Stories (Six Stories #1) by Matt Wesolowski

Six Stories (Six Stories, #1)

From Amazon

One body. Six stories. Which one is true? 1997. Scarclaw Fell. The body of teenager Tom Jeffries is found at an outward bound centre. Verdict? Misadventure. But not everyone is convinced. And the truth of what happened in the beautiful but eerie fell is locked in the memories of the tight-knit group of friends who embarked on that fateful trip, and the flimsy testimony of those living nearby. 2017. Enter elusive investigative journalist Scott King, whose podcast examinations of complicated cases have rivaled the success of Serial, with his concealed identity making him a cult internet figure. In a series of six interviews, King attempts to work out how the dynamics of a group of idle teenagers conspired with the sinister legends surrounding the fell to result in Jeffries' mysterious death. And who's to blame... As every interview unveils a new revelation, you'll be forced to work out for yourself how Tom Jeffries died, and who is telling the truth. A chilling, unpredictable and startling thriller, Six Stories is also a classic murder mystery with a modern twist, and a devastating ending. 'Impeccably crafted and gripping from start to finish.' - The Big Issue. 'Bold, clever and genuinely chilling with a terrific twist that provides an explosive final punch' - Sunday Mirror. 'With a unique structure, an ingenious plot and so much suspense you can't put it down, this is the very epitome of a must-read' - Heat Magazine. 'A genuine genre-bending debut' - Daily Mail.

My thoughts

I gave this a 4 stars or 8/10. I enjoyed this story and the unusual way that it appeared to be told in a series of podcasts, which aim to help the reader decide who was the killer in the case of the killing of Tom Jeffries.

The story draws you in and engages the reader. As the finger of blame is pointed at several people and with plenty of red herrings and lots of twists, you'll be reading on & on to see where you will be lead.

This would make an interesting Reading Group read. #Lancs50Books.
