Christmas Light (Christmas in New York #3) by Jolyse Barnett
From Goodreads
Adirondack girl-in-transition Jade Engel comes home to recharge after ending a career she never truly wanted, but soon realizes she’s in danger of also being swept off her feet by the boy-next-door, her former best friend, Ben Stephens. If only he’d stop kissing her every time she falls into his arms.
Everything local celebrity Ben Stephens ever wanted is in Starling. Then Jade comes home after an eternity away and sends his simple world into a tailspin. He’s determined to pursue her—the one girl who got away. But when their friends-with-benefits arrangement blows up in their faces, will they have the courage to put their pasts to rest in order to forge a future together?
My thoughts
This was a freebie book that I got via BookBub.
The book is part of a series of novella length stories, in so much as the series is themed around Christmas, but all the books are written by different authors and have a completely different set of characters in them. They can very easily be read as standalone books.
The story follows the chance meeting of Jade and Ben, who'd been childhood best friend's. Will they rekindle their friendship or will it spark in them both something more?
I liked the story and gave it a 3 stars or 6/10, it was the perfect read to take me away from the madness of life at Christmas time. It wasn't necessarily the best written book that I've read, but it's one that engaged me from start to finish and put a smile on my face when I picked it up to read.
