My thoughts
Firstly, my thanks to the Publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I gave this a well deserved 9/10 or 4.5 stars.
Darcy Davenport is a real life mermaid. She has an affinity for all things marine, but unfortunately due to a problem in her previous job she has taken a career change. Whilst, she is looking forward to her new life in White Cliff, she is not altogether sure what her new job will entail. Darcy has ties with Whte Cliff as one of her relatives lived there years ago.
Riley Eddison, is the current inhabitant of Rose Island Lighthouse. Something of a recluse he appreciates his own space and hasn't really settled into the way of life in White Cliff. When Darcy arrives on his island one day he believes that he has really been visited by his own real life mermaid.
She is a vision of loveliness to him, however she has trespassed on his island. Riley is not a happy man and soon makes his feelings felt at this invasion of his privacy.
Parting on bad terms the two of them go their own separate ways. It's not too long before fate makes their paths cross again and again. Will they be forever at loggerheads with one another or will the attraction that begins to grow take them in a different direction?
This is a well written third book in the White Cliff Bay series, it can be read as a standalone as any reoccurring characters play very minimal parts in the story.
As the blurb says 'Pull up a deck chair, sink back with a bowl of strawberry ice cream and pick up the summer read you won’t be able to put down.' Why settle at strawberry ice cream, why not spoil yourself and have a knickerbocker glory or an ice cream sundae instead. Go on, you know you want to. You'll not be disappointed.
