No-one ever called
Dan a pushover. But then no-one ever called him fast-track either. He
likes driving slowly, playing Sudoku on his iPhone, swapping one scruffy
jumper for another. He's been with Clara for four years and he's been
perfectly happy; but now she's left him, leaving nothing but a long
letter filled with incriminations and a small, white, almost hairless
dog, named Doggo. So now Dan is single, a man without any kind of
partner whether working or in love. He's just one reluctant dog owner.
Find a new home for him, that's the plan. Come on...everyone knows the
old adage about the best laid plans and besides, Doggo is one special
kind of a four legged friend...and an inspiration.
My thoughts
7/10 from me. I picked this one up from the Library. I was taken by the title of the story and the cover. It's a book that I'd not heard much about.
The story centres around Dan a young man recently split from his girlfriend. His girlfriend has left him with her pet dog, known as Doggo. Dan is not the most go getting of men, he prefers the laidback approach to life. A pet was never on his list of priorities in life, but left with Doggo his first instinct is to find him an alternative home.
As the story progresses Doggo becomes an instrumental character in the story and I warmed to him much more than I did the human characters. As Dan's career takes off and Doggo becomes a fixture where he works, finding him a new home takes a huge back seat.
I enjoyed this quirky humourous story and found it an easy read.
