This version of the Bennet family and Mr. Darcy is one that you have and haven't met before: Liz is a magazine writer in her late thirties who, like her yoga instructor older sister, Jane, lives in New York City. At a Fourth of July barbecue, Chip takes an immediate interest in Jane, but Chip's friend, neurosurgeon Fitzwilliam Darcy, reveals himself to Liz to be much less charming. . . . And yet, first impressions can be deceiving.
My thoughts
I grabbed a copy of this from my local Library and have kept renewing it for some time without getting round to reading it. Why didn't I read this sooner? I don't know the answer to that one.
This was an unusual read in some ways as it was loosely based on Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, but was set in modern times. With a list of characters with the same names and the story similar in many ways, this was a read that I enjoyed and just wish that I had got to it sooner.
The short chapters draw you in and keep you wanting to read just one more and one more, on and on.
Will Liz end up with the neurosurgeon Fitzwilliam Darcy? If you know the story Pride and Prejudice then you will have a fair idea of the outcome of that relationship.
