Everyone knows that Colin Bridgerton is the most charming man in London. Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend's brother for...well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret...and fears she doesn't know him at all.
Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of everyone's preoccupation with the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can't seem to publish an edition without mentioning him in the first paragraph. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same - especially Penelope Featherington! The girl haunting his dreams. But when he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide...is she his biggest threat - or his promise of a happy ending?
My thoughts
I grabbed a copy of this from my local Library as I was keen to continue on with my reading of the Bridgerton series of books. This is the fourth book in the Bridgerton series and concentrates on Colin Bridgerton and his attraction towards Penelope Featherington who seems to have been part of his family for many many years.
This was such an easy engaging read that I whizzed through it in a couple of days as I just wanted to know what happened between Penelope and Colin. They both have a mutual attraction towards one another, Penelope realised years ago that she was sweet on him, it's only just hit him in the last few years that he is also attracted towards her and due to his absence from the country he has begun to realise exactly how much she means to him. As the course of true love never runs smooth this couple have their own fair share of problems along the way, that they need to reach a mutual agreement about in order to move on with their lives either together or apart. We also have the issue of Lady Whistledown and her column, throwing the odd spanner in the work, with her gossip about the couple and others.
I look forward to reading the fifth in the series in due course.
