From Goodreads

Introducing a brand new murder mystery series set on England's northeast coast.

When taxi driver Frank is found dead on his dining room table, ex-cabbie Terry Bell assumes his old friend died of a heart attack. But when Terry's former boss also turns up with his face bashed in, it starts to look like there's a connection.

Faced with a Detective Inspector who doesn't like coincidences, and a series of threatening letters, Terry does a bit of investigating of his own, but when another body is discovered, the temperature starts to rise - in more ways than one.

Death on a Dirty Afternoon is book #1 in the Terry Bell Mystery series.

It's a seaside town like any other seaside town: from the non-existent sand dunes and candy-striped deck chairs to the concrete piers and tacky market stalls, they've got it all - including dead bodies, arson attacks and hockey-stick wielding murderers. If you love mysteries and amateur sleuthing, bald-headed villains and Swedish construction bosses, this'll be right up your everyday seaside -town street.

My thoughts

After agreeing to take in the Blog tour of the third book in this series,The Jansson Tapes. I was sent this to read so that I could get the back story to the series. My thanks to the Author via Emma of Damppebbles Blog tours for the copy. My thoughts are in no way influenced by receiving the copy and are a true reflection of what I thought of the story.

I gave this a 8/10 or 4 stars. The cover is really quirky too and fits the story perfectly.

Death on a Dirty Afternoon is the first in the Terry Bell Mysteries series.  When ex-cabbie Terry appears to be the main suspect for killing Frank a taxi driver who turns up dead on his table. Terry takes it upon himself to try to find out what's happening and why people who he knew and worked with, have been killed.

Terry Bell takes us on a journey with him, as he tries to clear his name and find out who's behind the killings.

This is the first story that I have read by Colin Garrow and I am glad that it's not my last as the second story in this series is already on my kindle waiting patiently to be read. Colin has a way with the narrative of the story that draws you into the lives of the characters. Told with elements of humour and a hint of the Geordie accent this was an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next one in the series, A Long Cool Glass of Murder.
