I gave this a 4 stars or 8/10.
This is a gentle story that's perfect for the Christmas season or to be read at any time of the year for that matter. Filled with all sorts of goodwill and kindness towards others, that is synonymous with the season.
I enjoyed this story about the friendships and relationships between the inhabitants of Chesterwood. When the local food bank is put in danger, it doesn't take long for Fern and her friends to come up with a plan to try and save it. Food banks can be of great help to people in need and the Christmas season can put more strain on people who are already stretched and struggling to make ends meet. So they can often become even more important. Along comes Kit, a new man in town, offering help and assistance. It's not long before he's making certain hearts flutter. He has baggage and secrets, but don't most of us. We wouldn't be human if we didn't!
Can the arrows of Eros land and spark romance in the hearts of some of the inhabitants of Chesterwood or does fate have other plans for them? Grab a copy and immerse yourself in their lives, perfect escapism for the madness that surrounds our day to day life.
