Coming Home to Cuckoo Cottage (Wynbridge series #4) by Heidi Swain

From Goodreads

When Lottie Foster’s grandmother’s best friend Gwen dies, she leaves Lottie her lovely home, Cuckoo Cottage.

Lottie loves the cottage but Matt, a charming local builder, points out that beneath its charm it is falling apart. Luckily he is always on hand to help with the problems that somehow seem to keep cropping up. But is he just a bit too good to be true? Certainly Will, Lottie’s closest neighbour, seems to think so.

Lottie plans to set up her own business renovating vintage caravans. She hasn’t told anyone about the project she has cooked up with Jemma from The Cherry Tree Café to repurpose Gwen’s old caravan and turn it into a gorgeous tearoom.

But before she can finally enjoy living with her legacy she must uncover who she can trust, and who to avoid. And with two men vying for her attention, will she also find love?

My thoughts

This was a book chosen by one of the members of a Reading Group that I have recently joined. This was a nice easy read that fits the romance genre, yet it's not strictly just a romance. I gave this a 3.5/5 stars or a 7/10.

Heidi Swain has written quite a few books and I think that this is the first of hers, that I've read. This is the 4th in the Wynbridge series, but can be read as a standalone. Lottie is a rather naïve young woman, who'd come into an inheritance following the death of a friend of her grandmother's. Gwen had left her cottage and some land to Lottie.

Will a close neighbour and a friend of Gwen's, knows the cottage well and when Matt a local handyman appears on the scene and keeps finding more and more work that he says needs doing, he begins to get rather suspicious of his work practises and wonders if he has ulterior motives.

It's not long before Lottie is in the middle, between Will and Matt with both of them vying for her attention. Playing piggy in the middle so to speak, she doesn't know which way to turn and as events occur sometimes fate can sway a person one way rather than the other.

As the story plays out to the conclusion, things become clear to Lottie. Who will she choose Will or Matt? Are her choices that simple? Grab a copy for yourself and see what future has in store for Lottie.

This was an easy read that was more than just a romance, it wasn't as light and frothy as some, yet it did make you hope for good things to happen to Lottie and that all would end well. At times I felt like slapping Lottie and hoped that she would wake up and smell the coffee, if you know what I mean.
