Blackwater: Vol 2 by T.W.M. Ashford

Blackwater: Vol. Two
From Goodreads

Hunter is still searching.

Three months have passed since Hunter and Liandra fought an undead spirit in an abandoned cathedral beneath Blackwater. Though the Thin Man escaped with a book capable of resurrecting an ancient god, all has been silent since. Having sat on the Chronicle’s invitation for long enough, Hunter decides it’s time to pay the mysterious old man a visit.

Teaming up with a guide and two-bit gangster, Eddie Buchman, he ventures deep into the heart of the Hollow. But the Chronicle isn’t quite how he imagined and he’s forced into a new bargain, one that brings him even closer to the shocking truth than ever before.

Join Hunter as he finally finds out what happened to his daughter.

My thoughts

WOW what a way to end this book and with the third volume still in the throes of being written and edited, this unhappy reader has to wait, when she could have done with the next one now!

This one takes the edge slightly on Volume 1, as it gives us the back story to Hunter alongside what is happening in the present, you need to keep your wits about you as you could easily forget if you're in the past or present. Told in such a way that you could see it played out as if you were watching it at the cinema it keeps you glued to the screen, well obviously a virtual screen as the action is ramped up with every turn of the page or swipe if reading it on a Kindle. You feel like shouting out to Hunter ~ 'Don't go there!' or 'Don't do that!' as you know it'll only end up badly for him.

This book continues on with Hunter searching for the answers as to what has happened to his daughter Amy. Beset with different problems along the way he is promised the answers if he does something for someone. Hunter being Hunter, sees that he hasn't a lot of choice as his options of finding out the truth are very few, he doesn't have many avenues that he can follow. However, will he be prepared for the answers that he might get and will he like what he hears. As the answer is revealed you will need to read this volume to see how he copes.

Another cracking read that needs the reader to open their minds to other worldly experiences, as this book crosses several genres including a dystopian styled future with supernatural occurrences.

My thanks to the Author and TBConFB for the opportunity to review this in exchange for an honest 4 stars or 8/10 review.
