Perfection. One word. Three syllables. Every reason why I’ll never have the one thing I truly want. I stand dutifully on the pedestal he’s built, waiting for the day he truly sees me.

Then one amazing night, he lets down his walls, only to leave me the next day.

Years have passed, and I’ve tried to move on with my life. But I still dream of him. I still miss him everyday. The memories haunt me. How can I look to the future when my past remains a mystery? The time has come to find the boy who stole my heart and ran away without a word.

But not everyone who is lost wants to be found.

My name is Alexandra Fontaine, and this is my story of unfinished love.

Wings Over Poppies is book #2 in the Over series and can be read as a standalone novel. Warning: This is a new adult romance. It is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My thoughts

My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for the opportunity to read this story in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second in the Over Series by J.A.Derouen and apparently can be read easily as a standalone. I've never read any books by this Author before and completely agree that this can be read as a standalone, I did not feel that not having read the first in the series detracted away from this at all.

It tells the story of two young people from different sides of the track so to speak. Alex's parents have some wealth and own a golf course, where they live. West has no wealth and has to work in order to help out with the family commitments, he is from a one oparent family.

Alex meets West one morning as he is working on the golf course that she lives at. As time progresses the two young people strike up a friendship that soon develops into more as their feelings for one another deepen.

Fate plays it's evil hand as it sometimes does and West leaves. Alex heads off to pursue her love of Art. She never forgets West and does her best to make contact with him over the ensuing years.

Without going into too much detail and spoiling things, suffice to say that eventually the paths of Alex and West cross again. Too much water has passed under the bridge so to speak and for one of them they believe that things will never be the same again.

Can they be persuaded that love goes deeper than they think and will Alex and West get their happy ever after? To answer that you'll have to read the story.

I really enjoyed this story and the interaction between Alex and West. I did feel the need to knock some sense into someone occasionally,  but I can appreciate why they acted in a certain way and why they thought as they did.

I gave this an 8/10 or 4 stars.
